Renting a car for the summer holiday – what kind of car?

When you go on holiday by plane, you often must think of renting a car in the country you spend your holiday as you can explore the neighbourhood and visit landmarks out of the town easier with a car. However, it is not an easy task to decide what kind or type of car you should rent. What is handy? What should you focus on?

Of course, there are no golden rules. Everybody shall choose a car they want, but it might be worth paying attention to some details

• try to drive a type of car that you already know. It is particularly true in countries where driving rules or habits are completely different from your own country’s habits. It is more than enough to get used to the rules. The car should not be completely unknown
• accommodate to the conditions. Try to see what type of car will be convenient to drive under given conditions. In narrow Mediterranean streets you had better choose a small car, just because it is easier to maneuver with a small car.
• Low consumption. It is an important factor but on holiday it is a particularly important factor to keep in mind. This way you can keep costs low but you can still see everything you would like to.
• There should be enough room for everyone. A small car can be handy to drive but not for a big family. Consider the number of people who needs to sit in the car and if you want to take any luggage with you. A bigger boom might be a good idea.
